Mine Host VFX
Photoshop / After Effects / Final Cut Pro
The majority of my grad film ‘Mine Host’ was shot on partial sets in a small studio, meaning that nearly every shot required some form of set extension, matte paintings, or other visual effects.
It was filmed almost entirely on an Arri 16SR (with some additional photography shot in HD video), then telecined and edited in Final Cut Pro. Compositing was done in After Effects.
In many shots, walls and hallways were extended to fit the frame, and in some cases, whole elements in a shot were rotoscoped and re-arranged to fit new framings and compositions. Multiple 3d handoffs were used to create unexpected, surreal scene transitions.
