It’s been a big year for King Warrior!
Back in September, it was named the Alberta Book Publishing Award’s Graphic Novel of the Year for 2023.
And in November, King Warrior received a belated recognition for it’s win in the Youth category of the 2022 NorthWords Award. Author Jay Bulckaert was on hand to receive the award:
Jay and I were also interviewed on the True North Country Comics Podcast, where we talked about the incredible collaborative process that gave birth to King Warrior. You can listen to the episode here.
We were also interviewed by GeekNerdNet.com, and featured on the CBC’s list of 22 must-read graphic novels.
And finally, King Warrior was added to the White Pines Collection of my own local library, and I got a little feature on their website, which was nice! My journey into the world of creating graphic novels has taught me the power that having a local impact can have, and there’s something unimaginably cool about seeing your neighbourhood library carry a book you helped to make.
I really hope this is only the beginning of that journey.
