Calgary Expo 2024
Last weekend I attended the Calgary Expo comic con in Alberta; it was a ton of fun, great vibes, and I loved meeting fans of The Constant Star. Here are some snaps!

I woke up at 3am for my flight from Vancouver to Calgary, which was … not fun! But while it was pouring rain when the plane took off, it landed to clear skies and the slightest sprinkling of snow.

I made a beeline for the comic con and started setting up my table. Before long, people started streaming in the doors…

The convention floor was absolutely hopping all weekend, and it was a little difficult trying to step away from my table and wander around. But I occasionally got the chance to explore and say hi to some other creators, including Cam Hayden, Jarret Hartnell, and Chase Kantor. The convention floor at Calgary Expo is huge — I think possibly the largest comic con by square footage in Canada? Even after an entire weekend of scouting the aisles I only covered about half the space. It was great!

It’s been a minute since I’ve been back in Calgary, so it was nice to be able to wander around downtown, including a quick stop at Shelf Life Books to check out their local graphic novels.

Finally, it was time to say farewell! One thing I’ll always miss about the Prairies is the enormous skies. Until next time…
